A distinctive feature is that certain sensitive processing requires prior authorisation or registration with the authority, and the law includes criminal penalties, with imprisonment of up to one year for some violations. Cross border transfers are restricted to countries offering adequate protection or with authority approval. Consent must be clear and documented. Notices in Arabic are expected, and cookies that identify users are personal data.
