Israel's Protection of Privacy Law dates from 1981 and is enforced by the Privacy Protection Authority. Israel holds EU adequacy, which supports data flows with Europe. Amendment 13, which takes effect in 2025, modernises the law by narrowing database registration, redefining key terms closer to the GDPR, strengthening the regulator's enforcement powers, and sharply increasing administrative fines. Cookies that identify users are personal data subject to the law.
