Cookie consent in Česko

Consent and privacy law in Česko

In short
Czechia is notable for switching its cookie regime from opt-out to opt-in. An amendment to the Electronic Communications Act that took effect on 1 January 2022 replaced the previous opt-out model with a requirement for prior consent for non-essential cookies, aligning the country with the rest of the EU. The UOOU enforces the GDPR and supports the cookie rules. Czech guidance requires clear consent without pre-ticked boxes and an equally easy reject path. Notices should be in Czech. Controllers that operated under the older opt-out approach needed to update their banners after the 2022 change.
Status
